January 7, 2012

We have gotten a letter from Washington County's Lawyer responding to the Property Tax Editorial.

This is the first letter that we got on this in late November.  We weren't really satisfied with this response and requested to have some examples to support their augments.  We had no problem with posting examples.  We did not get that - just another tamed down letter that we will post Here when I get a chance to scan it in to the system.

The main thing about this letter is that even though it says that it represents the County Government, it did not go through open meeting.

The County Council or the County Commissioners did not have any PUBLIC knowledge that this was going out in the County's name.

If the Councilmen or Commissioners decided to have this written during an executive session, that would have been illegal and broken open door laws.

In a lot of ways, the letter itself seems to be proof that the "Good Ole Boy" system is alive and kicking.
Anyway, read it for yourself and make your own opinion.

Is every property owner in Washington County Indiana treated equally by our Assessor?

You know, maybe not.

It kind of looks like the "Good Ole Boy" Politics system may be alive and well in Washington County.

But please make up your own mind.
